Shettleston cruise Troon Tortoises 10K
Shettleston's new Athletes made an awesome impact on the Troon 10K by taking the first three places and winning by a large margin in this popular midweek race. Amanuel Woldeselasie ran 29.46 to win ahead of clubmate Tzegazah Teweldemichael in 30.28 and Tewoldebrhan Mengisteab 30.41, superb times by all three Athletes. Full results via Troon Tortoise 10K
YAL gets underway -Match 1 Grangemouth
Myrtle Breckenridge had the club's best performance of the first Match at Grangemouth with a Gold standard and New Club Record winning 800m in the U13G with a run of 2.32.2, Hannah Heggarty winning the B string with 2.47.0. Rebecca Nicholson also claimed a club record running a 2.29.41 800m time and a bronze standard. A silver standard also for Callum Drummond in the U13B 800m , his time 2.27.78. Brogan Watt had her sights on the club records with a 10.86 75m run and a 21.77 in the 150m ,claiming club records in both. Gary McBride ran a 1.59.44 800m to mgain silver and his 400m time of 53.43 bronze. The girls continued a day of club records and PBs second in the 4 x 100m relay in 57.28. The club finished 5th overall in a match won by Giffnock which keeps us in the running for the YA finals. For all the Results and times of the YA click YA Match 1

Outstanding run by Jethro as he wins the World Long distance Mountain running Championship
Jethro Lennox won the 3 peaks challenge in Yorkshire which was incorporating the world Long distance mountain running champs. With over 700 runners from all around the world starting the race, Jethro finished very highly placed in the last peaks to consolidate a tremendous win .Clubmate Tom Owens was second and although running for Mercia, shows the quality and strength of Shettleston's Hill runners at the moment. CSSAL League Match 1
Several PBs, club standards new League records together with third Team place were the rewards for the first Central and South match at Linwood. In the Javelin, with a throw of 44.11m, Jack Bishop won the U15 event setting a new League record. David Kane won the 400m in a time of 52.6s setting Silver standard. Angus McInroy's Discus throw of 48.37m was also a winning throw. At U17 Gary McBride ran a 2.00.00 800m and Adam Drummond 2.03.2, silver and bronze standards and winners of both strings in the 800m. For the girls also met silver and bronze standard in the 800m winning both races with times of 2.38.9 and 2.42.2. Brogan Watt set a new club record High Jump with 1.30m and a High Jump by David Taylor of 1.60m. On the track Gordon Phillips ran 1.56.7 in the Senior 800m, congratulations to all Athletes who contributed to the club's total of 529pts, Kilbarchan topping the League with 696pts. Young Athletes Cross Country Presentation
The YA presentation to winners of the Country and Road Winter awards took place on Tuesday 22nd, congratulations to all the YA who collected awards. Cross Country Shield was won by Callum Drummond and Emma Mackay memorial trophy by Amanda Monaghan, the first U13 finishers in the National, with the Mackay Cup went to U15 Andrew Dearie and Helen Pawelczyk winning the girls the girls' Tommy Littlejohn Trophy for that agegroup. Highlights from the first League Match
With 10 of the club's best Athletes abroad on warm weather training(3 in Portugal with the Scotland preparatory squad), the performance at the first League match was below strength, a 6th place finish on 194pts. Arbroath won the match with 360 pts ahead of Central's 296. Best results were in the A string with David Little winning the Hammer, and Angus McInroy high in the Shot and Discus placings. Gordon Phillips ran a PB in the 1500m for 2nd place. Full results and times to follow.
Elaine wins Paul Richfeld honour
Elaine Mackay was voted winner of the Paul Richfeld trophy at the AGM, becoming the first woman ever to win that honour. The prize is awarded to members who have made an outstanding contribution to the club over the last year and Elaine's superb coaching of the Girls squad and tireless work behind the scenes made her the instant choice for this years award.
Seniors runners up at 6 stage relays
The final race of the winter season, the National 6 stage Road Relays at Almondvale Livingston was won by Central AC with Shettleston's A team getting second place ensuring another medal and helping the club keep up its excellent record of 8 medals in the 10 years that the race has been run over the Almondvale circuits. With Jethro at a hill race and Allan Adams injured, the first team was led by Ken McCoy who came in 5th, followed by Paul Sorrie who pulled back to 2nd place and then Stuart Greenway took the lead for the club. But a storming run by Robert Russell of Central gave Central the lead in the leg run by Andy Little, with Ian Johnston and Martin Graham both holding onto 2nd over the final two legs. That makes the record books read an impressive 3 seconds, 2 wins and 2 thirds, and a 4th for the event. The B team finished 24th and for all the details and times, click the National 6 Stage Link.
Shettleston Young Athletes Decathlon Conclusion 2008
This years club decathlon is decided after week 5 and at U11 Andrew Divers won by a good margin with 146pts and Louise Penman a similar emphatic points lead. The highly contested U13 age group was won by Callum Drummond on 185 pts and in the Girls competitionMyrtle Breckenridge just beat Hannah Heggarty and Kerri Haran in the contest with only 5 pts separating Myrtle who totalled 161pts. U15 Nicky Stone won the boys with 228pts and Helen Pawelczyk the girls winner. Well clear at U17 was Adam Drummond on 165pts and Rebecca Heggarty 89 pts in the U17 womens contest. Young Athletes Cross Country and Road League Final
With the final counting event at Aberdeen over and the summer Track season on the horizon, the finale of the CCRL competition is decided with Lachlan Oates top of the U17 table with 87pts and Andrew Dearie a clear winner of the U15 group with a superb 168pts.
