A feast of Athletics at Bank of Scotland Cup 1st July Grangemouth
Amanuel Hagos scored a great double winning the national 10000m crown to go along with his 10km road title. His time of 29.38.34 was the fastest run by a club member since 1997 when Billy Coyle ran 29.58 in the Scottish League. Amanuel was well supported by Tsegezeab Woldemichael who finished 2nd in 30.37.53. Martin Graham finishing 6th, 31.26.34 meant the club secured the team title ahead of Central AC. Vets Andy Little and Ian Johnston both ran fast times, 32.07.34 and 32.44.83 respectively. Amieset Tewelde in finishing 2nd in the women race becames the the first female harrier to win a national track medal since the 1930's when the club had a strong women's section. It's rumoured by some of the older members the section was disbanded because the ladies were putting the male members off training !!!! Prior to the International event, 3 athletes from the club took part as invited athletes to compete in show events representing the West of Scotland. These included both Sean's (Watson and Dimeo) and Lachlan Oates. Mathew Turner Scottish Under 20 champion ran very well as a guest in the 800m.

Inspired by these great performances the young athletes competing in the supporting road races won the overall trophy for the best club. Individual winners included Calum Drummond(U/13), Stella Winters (U/15) and Andrew Dearie (U/17). All athletes who competed will be given the trophy to keep at home for 1 week.
Later during the international event the club again came out winners being chosen as the club giving the best support in the back straight. Those who watched the athletics at home will have seen the club colours and banner very much to the fore. Again many young athletes were successful in getting autographs of the International athletes who competed. Rebecca Nicholson had her moment of glory being presented with a cheque for £100 to the club. Scottish athletics put on a great show which was enjoyed by all. Results from the BOS Cup
