Its been 20 years since the club has had any athletes at the Games and its our second ever highest number of athletes to have qualified . We all wait with baited breathe for the official announcement from the Commonwealth Games Council on August 18th . Its remarkable our three athletes who have qualified have no facilities at our home track to train on -with no Pole Vault , Discus or Hammer available at the East End Healthy Living Centre . The club supports these athletes in any way we can, and appeal to any member who knows of any potential sponsors for these athletes to contact any club official .

Girvan Half Marathon
On his first half marathon outing in over a year, Mark McColl was the sole Shettleston Harrier present at the Girvan Half Marathon.
The field was presented with high winds and rain which refused to abate during the course of the morning and early afternoon and this made racing conditions extremely difficult.
The course itself was very hilly and strong headwinds from halfway took its toll on all the runners times.
Mark ran with Girvan's and Cambuslang legend Stevie Wylie until 5 miles, and although Stevie's fitness easily took over from there on, Mark gave it his best shot and finished second and was very pleased to get his first half marathon over and done with. Photo courtesy of Kenneth Phillips.
